Woodworm is the common term for wood boring insects that lay eggs within the hairline cracks of timber that then hatch and bore through the wood leaving a series of tunnels that damage and weaken the timber over time. There are four common woodworms types in the UK; Common Furniture Beetle, House Longhorn, Death Watch Beetle and Woodboring Weevil. All these types of woodworm can cause serious damage to your property with common furniture beetle being the most common of them all.
You can usually spot woodworm by the small round holes they leave in woodwork often leaving a light coloured dust (also known as frass) outside or below the flight hole.
Woodworm holes does not always mean it is currently active/alive. If you notice any signs or are concerned then please contact one of our team.
